North Palm Farms October 2023 Report:
October month has been an exciting one! We had four bull calves born this month. They were all healthy and strong. The mothers are doing well. As the winter is approaching, we had to change pasture and started feeding more hay. Our pumpkin field yielded some pumpkins and we also learned a lot for next year’s pumpkin planting. We had the wonderful opportunity to host the North Palm Happy Fall Y’all day on the farm. We had a wonderful time. The Youth Pastor, Dayna Lopez brought goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks and rabbits to the farm. We had a chicken run session explaining everything about chickens, rabbits and goats. Then we did the cow walk. The group got to experience how excited our cows get about their hay. The families also had time to play checkers, corn hole and tenpin bowling by rolling a pumpkin. We ended the day with hot dogs which is always a hit.
Our new pasture enclosure’s fence was finished and we dug the trench and installed the water line. We need to hang 2 more gates then we will be done and our cows can graze in that part of the farm as well.
At the end of October we attended the Yon Family Farm auction. There was over 400 bulls on sale and the first bull was sold for $57,000 for a half share! The prices were really high, as is fitting for the great genetics that go into it. We just trusted that God will make a way for us to buy a bull in our price range. And He did! We bought a bull that will arrive on the farm the second week in November. That gives our momma cows that just gave birth, some time to adjust and heal up after the birth before the new season starts.
Blessings in Jesus,
